Longing

Here's another of those big, open landscapes...

Landscapes

I've been adding alot of similar landscapes to my favorites lately.

I'm not sure if it's a sign that I need to take a road trip to some place in the middle of the country this summer, or what.

Still life with Worn Gears

I love how this photographer managed to imbue this photograph with not only a warm, soft light, but also a feeling of a rich, traditional, oil-painted still-life... with a decidedly untraditional subject.

I have no idea what the photographer was looking at here -- but I'm so glad they captured such rich colors from the rusty something-or-other

Razor Wire

Who knew something as fierce as razor wire could be this beautiful?

I keep coming back to this photo, there's something so compelling about the curves of the wire and the contrast of light and shadow on it.

Best for last

My last musical post for now, but I think it's my favorite

I love the curves of these dulcimers together in those warm wood tones (and I like that it's something as unexpected and unusual as dulcimers.)

Keys

I love the super-close focus -- and the worn detail of the flute keys.

This looks like an instrument that's seen hard practice and many performances.

Not usually my style, but I like the way this highlights the shapes and intricacy of the keys.

Music

I have no musical ability (really, it's terrible, clapping in rhythm can be a challenge), but I've stumbled across some great musical photos lately.

The whole and the sum of the parts

Before I leave colors all together, I figured out how to embed a slide show

of one of my favorite, slightly quirky flickr groups. The goal: coordinate your photograph to the one before it in the pool, so the colors slowly blend into each other.

I like some of the photos better than others, but its always interesting to see what people will post next. And I like the idea that its not about each individual picture, but how they all fit together.

Neutrals... or not

I'm too tired to winter to do posts for the neutrals right now. Maybe I'll do gray and brown sometime when the whole world doesn't look so gray-brown

For now, you can see Black and White posts from a couple of months ago

Unidentified blues

I'm not even sure exactly what this one is, but I love it.

Actually, I don't really know what the second one is either, but I'm ok with that, since I kinda like the color.

Oops, I moved on to fast. I put up a blue post yesterday -- but forgot I had found one more green picture that I wanted to show you all.

Great minds and all that jazz

I don't believe great minds think alike, in fact, I'm pretty sure the mark of a great mind is NOT thinking alike.

But, sometimes a leaf -- or something -- calls out so loudly to be photographed that a few of us respond to the same call.

As I came across this trio of photographs of nearly the same subject spread out over several flickr groups.

This plant pretty much shouted "photograph me!" when I saw it hiking myself, (It's not exactly a subtle shade of green) Photograph we did -- and I'm intrigued and enjoy the subtle differences in approach.
